I reviewed several years' worth of free write papers from first-year students at Sonoma State University. Since I am also a first year at Sonoma State, my supervisor asked me to take on this assignment. The students were asked "What is your 'American Dream'?
"Stretch beyond your comfort zone. You never know who might be able to help you," states speaker Davin Cardenas '04.
"Saturday Sidekicks definitely increased my desire to work with kids with disabilities. When I first signed up for the program, I was very nervous that I was not going to be able to communicate effectively with the kids.
I have been working at the Center for Community Engagement since the fall of 2010. Learning the responsibilities and duties that this office tackles enlightened me in the CCE's mission, which I have been working hard to contribute to.
"Natalie, for your next project, I would like you to create the logo for the Center", asked my supervisor, Merith Weisman.
Exciting changes are happening here in the CCE. In addition to my role as Coordinator of the Center for Community Engagement, Academic Affairs has now added Coordinator of Social Media to my title and job duties.
As we ring in the new year, the student staff at the Center for Community Engagement can't help but wonder how the world will be in the year 2025.
