This spring, students at Sonoma State University had the opportunity to step outside the classroom and into meaningful dialogue with local high school students as part of the College Conversations Project, a service-learning collaboration between SSU and Rancho Cotate High School (RCHS).

After almost a decade of declining enrollment rates, Sonoma State University is preparing for significant budget cuts as part of a larger financial restructuring within the California State University system.

While volunteering during college may seem nearly impossible given the delicate balance of classes and extracurricular activities, some SSU students made it happen this Spring 2025.

On February 12th, the Sonoma State University Student Center Ballroom became the site of an insightful and thought-provoking conversation led by Dr. Kim Hester Williams, an expert in historical narratives about racial injustice, as well as a professor here at Sonoma State.

Last month, just days before the presidential election, an exciting debate was hosted between the Young Dems and College Republicans on campus. This was a great opportunity for students to hear different perspectives on key issues, including the economy, foreign affairs, and patriotism.

The final seminar in the It Matters! Series dove into two critical topics that hit close to home: the challenges of modern polling, and the shifting landscape of reproductive rights. Professor David McCuan facilitated the discussion, in which Professor Richard Hertz, and Dr.
