"Today, I used critical thinking skills to advocate the the importance of continuing your education by coming to Sonoma State University," said David Suits, a freshman participating in the Freshman Year Experience (FYE) program.

"We had the chance to meet with numerous students, many who were interested in our work. It was so sweet, our SSU volunteer from last year came by wearing our t-shirt!

Sometimes the most powerful things come in the simplest forms.

For two days and one night I attended the second annual social justice retreat at the Sequoia Retreat Center.

As we ring in the new year, the student staff at the Center for Community Engagement can't help but wonder how the world will be in the year 2025.

I have been working at the Center for Community Engagement since the fall of 2010. Learning the responsibilities and duties that this office tackles enlightened me in the CCE's mission, which I have been working hard to contribute to.

I reviewed several years' worth of free write papers from first-year students at Sonoma State University. Since I am also a first year at Sonoma State, my supervisor asked me to take on this assignment. The students were asked "What is your 'American Dream'?

"Discovery Day was a huge success and I really enjoyed the whole day...The scavenger hunt allowed me to practice the leadership skills learned throughout the University 222 course. I learned a lot about Patrick, Brandon and Pablo, their goals, hopes, and expectations in college.
