We are thrilled to welcome Alex Anderson to the Center for Community Engagement as an AmeriCorps VISTA for the City of Santa Rosa! Alex graduated in spring 2019 from SSU with a degree in Human Development and a minor in Sociology.

“I love working with students and seeing them connect service with their education; as well as learning about their community,” Natalie Frankel beamed.

The last twelve months have been filled with opportunities for growth and numerous challenges for our current VISTAs. It’s now time to reflect on our time working together; their time at the sites where they served, and to look toward the future.

The Center for Community Engagement held a viewing party for the “Learning-Centered Syllabus for Service-Learning and Community Engagement Courses” webinar which invited instructors and faculty to participate. That’s right – a webinar viewing!

The Part-Time Job, Internship & Service Fair is a fantastic opportunity to promote your organization and recruit Sonoma State student interns and volunteers.

Second and 3rd graders from Kawana Springs and Bellevue Elementary School partnered up with Dr. Jessica Hobson’s PSY 302 Lifespan Development service-learning class to participate in the beloved annual event, Book Buddies.

The faculty attending the Deepening Service-Learning workshop made clear commitments to deepening their service-learning practice and shared their plans in order to improve learning and community impact.
