Petaluma Health Center understands that our community comes first. Our mission is to understand and meet the needs of our community to further improve their daily lives. The Petaluma Health Center is a federally qualified health center or FQHC that is federally funded. We are in the top 1% for best health center in all of California. We pride ourselves on serving all different types of socioeconomic backgrounds, and providing the best care for our patients.
This year I am AmeriCorps VISTA in partnership with the Petaluma Health Center. I am the volunteer coordinator, involved in capacity building and a campus liaison to Sonoma State University and the Petaluma Health Center. I joined Petaluma Health Center because not only do they strive for a healthier community but also because they are quickly empowering the communities in the surrounding area. I enjoy working for a non-profit that constantly wants to improve patients' daily lives.
We help people throughout all walks of life. After the fires the Petaluma Health Center was instrumental in getting the people affecting by the fires back to normalcy. The Petaluma Health Center was involved with accessibility to providers, medical care to all emergency centers, vaccines, and behavioral health services to evacuation centers during the North Bay fires during October.
Petaluma Health Centers is always looking to help out the community either with health programs or volunteer programs. Our opportunities range from our free food distribution that serves our communities from low-income to high-income. We also have our canvassing project that we do to understand the needs of the Rohnert Park communities.
