I was so glad to see the amazing organization CalSERVES here on campus! I did not know about this organization, so I was very curious to learn about their activities. Some other students also looked curious when they saw CalSERVES' table outside the Student Center. I noticed their looks before they knew about CalSERVES were completely different from after they learned about all the amazing work with kids that they could get involved with; most of the students looked very satisfied and excited to do new things. Most of them signed up to get more information later. I was so glad this organization found the students who were interested in its activities and the students found what they would do for their future.

After I researched CalSERVES, I realized that they are an organization that tries to make people's lives better. I think many students should know about this organization because I know there are some students who are looking for volunteer activities or internships. CalSERVES is looking for these students and provides opportunities for them to provide tutoring, mentoring, and other volunteering.

More about CalSERVES: "Discover Passion, Realize Potential, Express Power"

CalSERVES contributes to after-school, tutoring and volunteerism, and tries to make differences in lives of children, their families, and the local community. It also provides mentoring for students in grades 5- 12 for high quality education. This organization provides services in southwest Santa Rosa, Petaluma, Calistoga, and Napa elementary and middle schools.

At the same time, CalSERVES provides beneficial opportunities for college students to develop themselves and exercise their communication, scheduling, and leadership skills. Also, college students can get educational scholarships or internships.

"Discover Passion, Realize Potential, Express Power" is what CalSERVES college students could gain by working with CalSERVES. I think this phrase is very cool because passion, potential and power are difficult for many people to make or find by themselves. It would be great if every SSU student could get all of them.

In conclusion, I noticed some organizations around Sonoma State University, like CalSERVES, are great opportunities for students to develop their lives. As the students help their community, they make a stronger relationships with their community. This is great because many people benefit. I look forward to finding and sharing information about more organizations and events on this blog.
