This year's Earth Day was a great success! Clubs and organizations from the University, and agencies from the local community came together on Wednesday, April 22nd to celebrate the Earth and the campus' sustainability efforts.
What did you do for Spring Break? Did you relax, go to the beach, spend time with family? I spent my spring break collecting garbage, planting trees, gardening, and building relationships with other SSU students who care about sustainability.
"[...T]his service-learning approach has changed the way I see a person reading to their child. Before attending Book Buddies, I thought to myself that we were just going to read to a child, then the child will read, and then make a book.
As I get further into my education and dive deeper into the issues of society, I can't help but wonder what is at the root of all of these problems. Is it possible that all these issues could be related? I believe the answer is yes.
"I think I'm more excited for college just by seeing how all these students feel about it," said Gisselle Alvarez from Roseland Collegiate Prep (RCP). At Discovery Day, RCP students learned how to get to college and what to expect.
