Helping People. Changing Lives. 50 Years Strong. Community Action Partnership of Sonoma County addresses the needs of impoverished communities and the necessary changes needed to eliminate poverty in our county. CAP Sonoma partners with the community to empower low-income families through community engagement, health & wellness, education, and financial stability strategies; our four core focus areas. I joined CAP Sonoma because I wanted to be directly involved with the change taking place in my area. I sought involvement and knowledge about the many efforts and events supporting community engagement and action. I found that CAP Sonoma is a unique non-profit organization due to its many diverse programs within a single agency. The possibility to visit a school readiness classroom, a community engagement event, or even learn more about the financial support available to our homeless population, are only a few of the many recourses CAP Sonoma has to offer. As an AmeriCorps VISTA Volunteer Coordinator for CAP, I hear many of our newer volunteers say they hadn't realized how involved our programs are in their community. They are excited to learn about the numerous families, students, and clients we help through our services, and to become part of the difference for these certain individuals. I encourage you to step into our world here at CAP, and experience the commitment we put towards helping people and changing lives right here in Sonoma County.
